Overview
Assessments, sometimes called dues or fees, are the primary source of income for your homeowners association. They fund the maintenance of common areas, community services, insurance, and administrative operations. Understanding your assessment schedule helps you stay up to date and avoid late fees.
Assessment Billing Cycle
Your HOA’s billing schedule is set by the Board of Directors and outlined in the association’s annual budget. The most common billing frequencies are:
Monthly
Quarterly (every three months)
Semi-annually (twice a year)
Annually (once a year)
Each homeowner receives a notice in the PayHOA portal when new assessments are posted. You may also receive email reminders before and after each due date.
Due Dates
The due date for assessments is determined by the association’s governing documents or the annual budget resolution adopted by the Board. Payments must be received or posted by the due date to avoid late fees or interest.
You can review your current balance and due dates anytime in your PayHOA homeowner portal under Payments.
Late Payments and Fees
If a payment is not received by the due date:
A late fee may be automatically applied.
The account may begin accruing interest according to the association’s policy.
Continued delinquency may result in further collection actions or attorney referrals, as authorized by the Board.
You can always reach out to the Homeowner Team if you anticipate a delay to discuss available options.
How to Stay Current
Set up automatic payments (Auto-Pay) through your PayHOA portal.
Add payment reminders to your calendar.
Make sure your mailing and email addresses are up to date for all billing notices.
